Judgement Day is Coming even if "When" Predictions are Wrong.
This note is in response to requests for me to respond and clarify the recent false prophecy by Harold Camping that Judgment Day was going to begin May 21 at 6pm with the rapture of the Christians.
The rapture of the saints is going to happen. God’s judgment upon the people for their rebellion and stubborn refusal to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord will happen. The renovation of the earth by fire will happen. The seas will become dry land. A Heavenly city, Jerusalem will descend from above and God will make His habitation among us. These claims are not science fiction, fantasy, or make believe but very clear realities described in the Holy Bible (Revelation 20,21). To be Christian is to put our faith and trust in Jesus and His Word, the Bible. We are to believe all of it, not just the parts we agree with or can understand. Christians may be in disagreement as to when these things will take place or even some of the minor details of how, but “if” is not debated among mainline Evangelical Christians.
Harold Camping, the man responsible for the recent May 21st Judgment Day prediction, thought he had found and solved a mystery, hidden within the pages of the Bible, of what day, hour and minute the Rapture was to happen. It’s the 23rd of May, two days later, he was wrong. The Bible says,
Matthew 24:36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.
The world will scoff and ridicule the man, and Christians as well, for even believing in such things, but do not discount the reality behind the mistaken prediction.
1Thessalonians 4:14-18 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. (15) For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. (16) For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. (17) Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. (18) Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Be comforted in the reality Jesus is coming back. That is a certainty and fact just as real as the fact Jesus was crucified, died, and rose again from the dead three days later. We cannot know the day, nor hour, but if we live each as if this could be the day we have nothing to fear. It is a day of fear, dread and pending judgment for the sinner but for the saint it is the Blessed Hope that gives us strength to endure until the end.
