God's Grace is Sufficient For Today
God grants us the grace to meet our needs today, not tomorrow or next week, but today. In Exodus 16, the Israelites were in a hostile, dry, and empty wilderness and God promised to provide them manna to collect every morning. They were commanded not to gather more than they needed for that day. Any more and it would spoil overnight. They had to trust what God did for them today, He would do it again tomorrow. God was teaching them how to trust, or have faith, in Him and His word. He is a faithful God who will not abandon us in the wilderness. He is Jehovah-Jireh, The God Who Provides!
Remember in the Lord's Prayer how Jesus instructed us to pray for our provision? "Give us this day our daily bread." (Matt 6:11) That should always remind us to be in the now, not the tomorrow. He is the Great "I AM", the Ever Present One, and that is where his grace flows. When you stress over the future, whether it be tomorrow or next year, you have removed yourself from the fountain of grace God has supplied for you today. Don't worry about next week or next month for His grace is sufficient for today.
Are you in a barren, dry and empty wilderness in your life? What resource is lacking right now? Money? Time? Health? Peace? Joy? God loves you as much as he did the Israelites and He will provide you manna, but you must trust Him with His provision for today. Thank God, "His mercies begin afresh every morning" (Lam 3:22 NLT).
