 Have You Received Since You Believed?

It was over twenty years after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts chapter two when Paul asked a group of believers during his missionary travels in Ephesus, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" (Acts 19:2)  They were clueless.  They had never heard about the Holy Spirit.  Paul then laid his hands on them and prayed and "the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied." (19:6) 

Think about that for a moment.  Once Paul learned they were followers of Christ his first question for them was, "But do you have the Holy Spirit?"  Paul understood the most important truth he could convey to them after their salvation in Christ was to tell them of the promise of the Holy Spirit.  

You may have confessed Christ twenty years ago, but when it comes to the Holy Spirit, have you received since you believed?  Are even the least bit interested?  Do you want everything God's Word promises to you?  

This Sunday, May 28, 2023, is Pentecost Sunday.  It is a day to celebrate and be reminded of what God did for us on the Day of Pentecost just ten days after Jesus ascended into heaven.  The message "Have You Received Since You Believed?" will unpack the Bible's teaching on the promise of the Holy Spirit to all believers.  Prepare your hearts to receive!
