Everything Changes But One Thing

 "Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth." 

Colossians 3:2

Everything in this world changes. "Nothing" does not exist in the material universe, it is an abstract idea only seen in mathematics.

2-2=0 (nothing)

But in the natural world, even in a vacuum, nothing is something. There is the dimension of space, quantum fluctuations, and who knows what else yet to be discovered by science (dark matter/energy).

And change is a condition of reality. Everything changes. Nothing stays the same. Molecules are always in motion.

Every part of our existence changes: our body, our mind, our emotions, our relationships, and our circumstances.

The very definition of "time" helps us to understand this idea. Time, at the fundamental level, is the record of change.

But there is One who does not change. He is not a part of this material universe because He created it. He is the Timeless One, Eternal One, the Everlasting Father who has no beginning and no end. He is the Rock, the Sure Foundation, and the Anchor of our soul. (Heb 13:8; Jam 1:17; Psa 102:25-27)

When we connect ourselves to Him, He becomes our Constant, our unmoving stability in the swirling mess and chaos of the world around us. He is our Peace in the storm. He is our joy in the midst of setbacks and tragedy. When the world leaves us, He is always with us. When the world is against us, He is always for us. (Isa 43:19; Psa 46:1; 73:28; 113:4-6)

So remember to, "Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth." Colossians 3:2 The things of the earth are always changing, always have a shelf-life, and will fail us eventually, but God is the Ever-Faithful Present One. He does not change. He is always present. He is always dependable and trustworthy. (Psa 136)

A Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
In a world where seasons shift, plans falter, and hearts break, You remain steadfast. You are the Rock on which we stand, the Anchor that holds firm when life’s storms rage. Lord, we honor You for Your faithfulness that never wavers, for Your promises that never fail, and for Your love that is unchanging from everlasting to everlasting.

You are trustworthy in every way, O God. While the world around us crumbles, You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. You uphold Your Word, and Your faithfulness reaches to the heavens. We can depend on You when all else fades, for You are our refuge, our fortress, and our ever-present help in times of trouble.

Father, we thank You for being our constant in this life of uncertainty. When people disappoint us and circumstances shift, Your mercy endures, and Your grace abounds. You never leave us, and You never forsake us. Your hand sustains us, and Your Spirit comforts us.

Lord, teach us to rest in Your unchanging character. Help us to trust in Your perfect plan, even when we cannot see the way. Strengthen our faith in Your goodness and remind us daily that Your love endures forever. May our lives reflect our gratitude and reverence for who You are—eternal, faithful, and true.

We give You all honor and praise, for You alone are worthy.
