One Hour of Prayer Guide

ONE HOUR OF PRAYER GUIDE

DIRECTIONS: Use this chart to guide your prayer time. You may need to build up to one hour; instead of five minutes per station, spend 2-3 minutes cultivating discipline in prayer. You can also break it into chunks: 15 minutes before breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bed. You may also spend more time in one area than another, which is just fine. This is a guide, not a strict rule to follow.

(1-5) PRAISE & ADORATION: Begin by selecting a specific theme for praise, such as God’s righteousness, His Word, His Names, or His creative acts. (Ps 34:1; 115:1)

(6-10) WAIT ON THE LORD: Think about the hour before you and the things you want the Lord to do in your life. (Ps 27:14; 46:10)

(11-15) CONFESSION: Ask the Holy Spirit to show you anything in your life that might be displeasing to Him. Confess and repent. (Ps 51:1-19; 1 John 1:9)

(16-20) SCRIPTURE PRAYING: Praying the Word aligns your mind, will, and heart with the mind, will, and heart of God. His prayers become yours. (Matt 6:10)

(21-25) WATCHING: What do you see the Holy Spirit showing you in your life, the life of your church, your city, your nation, or in the world? (Col 4:2)

(26-30) INTERCESSION: Specific prayer on behalf of others. Make a list. Develop a plan. Declare God’s promises! (1 Tim 2:1-2)

(31-35) REQUESTS: Specific prayer for your personal needs. Make a list. Ask God to examine your personal motives. Find a Scripture to stand on. (Phil 4:6)

(36-40) THANKSGIVING: Give thanks to the Lord for His blessings to you, His spiritual blessings, and thanks for who He is (His character, qualities, and acts). (1 Thes 5:18)

(41-45) SINGING & REFLECTION: Collect your favorite choruses and hymns and worship the Lord. (Ps 100:1-2)

(46-50) MEDITATION: Ask the Lord to speak to you and keep a paper and pen handy, ready to record His thoughts as He speaks to you. (Josh 1:8)

(51-55) LISTENING: Spend time merging the things you have read, prayed, given thanks, and sung, and see how the Lord brings them all together. (Eccl 5:2)

(56-60) WORSHIP: End strong! Focus your praise on God’s greatness! Declare His glory over your life today. (His manifested PRESENCE, POWER, GOODNESS). (Rev 12:13)
