Worship: Giving God Your All and your Awe

God wants your worship. What does that mean? I think two words sum it up: He wants your ALL and your AWE.

He wants all you have to give. He wants you all in. Push all your chips to the center. He wants your allegiance and obedience. The greatest offering of worship is a life offered in daily obedience and submission to God and His will.

Romans 12:1 captures this idea:

"...I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him."

But He also wants your AWE. Not just your mind and body but your soul and emotions. It's a worship that transcends the body and brain and lifts you to the heavenlies. Awe and wonder. The glimpse and taste that there is so much more of God and He is lifting you there. The mind cannot fully grasp what the heart yearns for. It's akin to the feeling a mountain climber gets after an arduous climb to the mountain peak and suddenly the panoramic greatness swallows them. Awe and wonder lift the climber far above the peak his feet are planted on.

Psa 145:5-6 "I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles.  (6)  Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness."

Today give God your all and awe. Worship Him.
