DAY SEVEN-Chap 13 & 14 Engaging the Bible: 10 Days Through The Gospel of John.

 

Chapter 13

I AM 7 of 7 is found in this chapter.  Chapters 13 and 14 take place at the Passover feast in the evening with Jesus' disciples.  In this chapter, Jesus does what words alone cannot express, and washes his disciples' feet.  Judas, the betrayer, can no longer endure and leaves, his feet yet wet from his Master's wash. He gives them a new commandment in verse 34, "Love one another, even as I have loved you..." 

Chapter 14

Chapters 14-17 are some of the most profound and intimate teachings of Jesus.  Chapter 14 takes place in the Upper Room where they celebrated Passover.  Chapters 15-17 take place as they walk and arrive at the Mt. of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane.  In this chapter, Jesus comforts his disciples and reminds them of the promise of the Holy Spirit to be their Helper when he is gone.
